Services Provided by Teacher Sully Solves Puzzles and Karen Sullivan

Special Education Advocacy

I support families as they navigate school districts and special education processes. My work includes writing letters, attending meetings, conducting research, networking, and advocating to ensure school‑age children receive the services they need.

When I’m involved, I break down complex language and explain the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in clear, everyday terms. I also help families recognize when an issue may require legal expertise, and I assist them in finding appropriate support from a qualified legal representative.

My role is to help you build confidence, trust, and resilience—both in what you know and in how you participate in your child’s educational journey.

Instructional Support Rooted in Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

I help learners succeed by adapting academic goals through the lens of Universal Design for Learning. Whether supporting K–12 students, adult learners, or individuals returning to education, I design flexible pathways that remove barriers and build confidence. My approach ensures that every learner can access content, demonstrate understanding, and experience meaningful progress.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We have answers.

What is a “family advocate?”

Parents send their children to school sometimes by choice, but sometimes by the influence of their neighborhood, and expect a good education that will prepare their children for their future.

A family advocate works to align resources such as time, access to special services, and navigation of complex educational systems. As a family advocate, I offer professional services, not legal services, to support and mentor a family through a complex problem that they have not yet solved.

What are the benefits of using your services?

As an experienced special education advocate, I can help families achieve better educational outcomes and address potential problems.

Do you tutor students in class?

No, all tutoring services are conducted outside of the classroom.
